Our PYP Inclusion/Counsellor teacher, Mr. Jordan, recently brought his unique expertise and passion for wood carving to a special session with our PYP3 students. The lesson was closely tied to their Unit of Inquiry, “Exchange,” providing an engaging, hands-on exploration of the topic.

Mr. Jordan captivated the students by sharing his personal journey with wood carving—how it has become a meaningful hobby and a valuable practice for mental well-being. He demonstrated his impressive skills by carving a figurine right before their eyes, explaining the intricate process of creating and selling handcrafted goods. This real-life connection deepened the students’ understanding of why people make and exchange goods, from the creative inception to the final transaction.

The students were thoroughly engaged, asking thoughtful and curious questions throughout the session. Their enthusiasm was a testament to the power of experiential learning and the joy of discovering new perspectives through the passions of others.

A big thank you to Mr. Jordan for inspiring our young learners with this unforgettable experience!
